Gen

Unmanifest Destiny by vain_glorious (PG-13, 8,261 words) !
Summary: Following the events of 5X01, Team Sheppard goes to Earth and takes a roadtrip across the US.
Review: Sometimes Fandom just impresses the fuck out of me.

Pre-slash

Black Helicopters series by whizzy (R, AU)
Summary: Screw the bet. Rodney was going to prove the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence. Oh, and incidentally, he might just catch the United States Air Force with their pants around their ankles.
Review: This is exactly the satisfying long read you were looking for, enjoy! Except for where whizzy strings us along with the pre-slash. But she promises it'll be slash, so don't let it hold you back, it's a well worth read.

Sheppard/McKay

The Dark Side by astolat ([PG-13], 7,432 words, AR)
Summary: "You're not a very good Jedi, are you?" the Sith Lord said.
"Oh, excuse me, I am an excellent Jedi," Rodney said.
Review: This worked for me in all the right ways. In fact, for about a week I was downright obsessed with this verse! (That manip of John, nnnngh!)
Decreasing Radii by cathalin (NC-17, ca. 27,000 words)
Summary: Sometimes the only thing to do is to steepen the bank, lean further into the turn.
Review: You can't go wrong with a good Aliens Made Them Do It :oD
Do Over by crysothemis (NC-17, ca. 19,000 words)
Summary: John never sleeps with anyone twice.
Review: This starts out with something of a cliché in fic - at least I have seen it before, and wasn't sure it'd work for me. But this fic was great fun, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Epic Tale of Rodney & John, Two Girl Scout Cookies in Love by bitter_crimson (R, mixed media, image-heavy) !
Summary: And John apparently was really cool -- at least, according to all the other Samoas. It was actually quite disgusting.
Review: Obviously one of the most genius things to come out of SGA fandom, this tale has it all: Love, tragedy, humour, hawt sex!
The Experiment by Luna/lunasky (NC-17, 22,211 words)
Summary: They wake up to find themselves in a grey room. A plain, grey room with no windows or doors.
Review: This worked very well for me.
Failsafes by Luna/lunasky (PG-13, ca. 15,500 words)
Summary: The city was full of failsafes.
Review: Very intriguing, a rollercoaster of a read.
The Fall of the House of Sheppard by Martha/saffronhouse (NC-17, 40,150 words)
Summary: John Sheppard's strange inheritance has drawn Dr. Rodney McKay across two galaxies and back again. Now Dr. McKay must survive the dark forces at work in the Sheppard house to save the man he loves!
Review: The summary is cheesy, but the fic isn't. And it does scary/creepy extremely well, gah!
Forget Me Not by maisierita (R, ca. 47,000 words)
Summary: John the servant turns out not to be anything like Rodney would have imagined.
Review: A very satisfying long read, amnesia and servant-kink included.
General & Dr Sheppard by Xanthe (NC-17, 118,866 words)
Summary: An accident with Ancient technology sucks a John and Rodney from an alternate universe onto Atlantis – and they have very different ideas about sex, marriage and relationships.

Summary: After the Wraith capture Aiden Ford, the command of Atlantis gives him up as lost. But his teammates aren't convinced--they're willing to go the extra mile to get him back.
Review: This is gen for a while, but such awesome gen, I would have continued to read it gen happily. But teh ST and sex was also hot.
The Hard Prayer by Rheanna (PG-13, 30,334 words, AU)
Summary: One year after the end of the world, John meets another survivor.
Review: So good, and not a little chilling, and one tiny bit killed me. John and Rodney are both so fucked up, it's very well written and narrated.
Hindsight by rageprufrock (R, ca. 23,412 words, AR)
Summary: Hindsight is at best, only 20/20.
Review: Took me a bit to get into it, but then I enjoyed it very much. Contains a fic-kink of mine in Sheppard/McKay, but I won't spoil it :oP
A Hundred Happy Things by busaikko (NC-17, ca. 33,000 words, AR)
Summary: Harlequin AU (no Stargate). Kaleb's long gone, Jeannie's got a career, Madison has problems, Rodney's got Inner Power!, and Sheppard … is pretty much the same.
Review: This worked way better than I thought it would. Well-written, great characterizations, and a good read.
Intersections by Kaneko ([NC-17], 24,391 words, AU) !
Summary: Rodney's Antarctica is a lot like Siberia in that it's full of scientists who work 16-hour days and bathe once a week (twice when they're feeling social).
Review: Love the writing (omg, the writing!), the narration, and the characterization. My favourite SGA fic yet.
Junk Cheap by Devil Doll (R, ca. 13,000 words, AR)
Summary: If you were thinking you'd love to read an AU where Rodney is a college professor and John owns a junk shop, this is the story for you.
Review: I was just thinking I'd like to read such a fic!
Kid A by Speranza ([NC-17], 7,899 words)
Summary: "I'm not gay, Rodney," John says, and it's awkward to have to say it, but it really has to be said.
Review: Don't worry, the fic has nothing to do with kids. This is the kind of fic that I can never remember what was about from the title. So in a way it's forgettable, which is a rather anti-reccy thing to say. However, it does win me over every time, and the ending leaves me very happy.
Last Will and Testament by Speranza ([NC-17], 23,023 words, AU)
Summary: "It's about your father. Your father is dead, Rodney."

Review: Oh, John - you dork <3 !
Rodney's Last Message by Speranza ([PG])
Summary: "Hey, do me a favor, will you? Don't check your email for a while."
Review: I like how this is funny, but also serious. Or maybe serious, but also funny.
Small Primes and Square Roots by Livia ([R], ca. 17,500 words, AR)
Summary: "I hope you picked someone really intelligent, otherwise it seems like it would be kind of a waste. Of incubation time, if nothing else."
Review: The ending is rushed, which is sad, as the rest is quite excellent.
The Soul and the Company Store Remix by Leah (R, 46,558 words, AU)
Summary: "I think it's time you told me why the bloody hell you have Lee and Zelenka's missing SX-7 on your bed."
Review: Robot!fic, *facepalms*. Really good, enjoyed it immensely, loved the resolution.
Take Clothes Off As Directed by Helen (NC-17, 11,791 words, AR)
Summary: John entered the Air Force Academy in 1987; it was only the third year subs were accepted into the flight program. John wasn't the only one in his class, but he was the only one who looked like he did, and it didn't make him any friends.
Review: If not for the last few paragraphs, which I don't get what are trying to say, and thus try to ignore, this would be a !, because nnnnnnguh.
Teenage Kicks by Rheanna (R, ca. 27,000 words)

Unidentified by the drifter/fiercelydreamed (PG-13, ca. 30,000 words, AR)
Summary: Fourteen years, eight months, and seven days after John and Rodney meet, the clock starts all over again.
Review: It almost lost me at the first flashback, because I'm weird about flashbacks, but I carried on, and it was a very good read. And it has my fave Sheppard/McKay fic!kink <3
Whipping Boy by Kat Reitz and Perryvic ([NC-17], 107,370 words, AR)
Summary: There were regulars to the infirmary. The 'whipping boys' -- smart, every bloody last one of them, to be there at NIT -- with their caning marks laid hard across their shoulders and upper backs, fresh and scarred alike. He had a supply of self dissolving sutures for them, and well worn advice on how to deal with Patrons who weren’t getting the point of the arrangement.
Review: Ah, kink!/id-votex!fic, *settles in*.
